Nonprofit Strategizing, Convening & Training

Anti-Racist DC partners with nonprofit organizations across the District to move racial justice from a value to a daily practice. We know nonprofits are often closest to the harms and the possibilities in our communities—and that staff, especially Black women and other people of color, are too often asked to do transformative work inside structures that weren’t built for equity. ARDC walks alongside nonprofits to name those dynamics clearly and build something different together.

In 2025 we worked alongside numerous DC nonprofits to create DCs Nonprofit Sector Racial Justice Strategy. (link) This strategy is rooted in antiracist tools and practices nonprofit staff and leaders hope to see in their work. Most evidently in this strategy was the need for shared language, shared understanding and shared practices. That can look like unpacking how white supremacy culture shows up in policies and decision-making, rethinking compensation and power-sharing, or aligning programs and campaigns with the needs and leadership of Black, Indigenous, and other marginalized communities in DC. Our work is collaborative and grounded in the belief that nonprofits are not just service providers—they’re key organizers, employers, and institutions shaping what justice looks like in this city.

We support nonprofits through political education, antiracism trainings for staff and leadership, and strategy sessions that connect internal culture change with external advocacy.
