Join an Advisory Council
Help Shape DC’s Racial Justice Strategy
Anti-Racist DC convenes Racial Justice Strategy Advisory Councils in each sector we serve. These councils bring together leaders, practitioners, and community members to co-create long-term strategies that advance equity in DC.
When you join, you’re helping to design the policies, practices, and systems that will define a racially just DC.
What Advisory Councils Do
Each council works over a 3–5 year period to:
Take part in racial justice and political education trainings tailored to their sector.
Review data, reports, and analysis on current racial equity practices.
Identify the most urgent racial justice priorities in their sector.
Co-create a sector-specific racial justice strategy with clear goals, outcomes, and action steps.Support education, outreach, and implementation of the strategy.
Develop processes to evaluate progress and adapt strategies over time.
Who Can Join
We seek people who:
Work or have deep experience in the sector (nonprofit, philanthropy, faith-based — with more sectors to come).
Are committed to advancing racial justice in DC.
Can contribute time, insight, and collaboration to a multi-year process.
Represent diverse roles, perspectives, and lived experiences within the sector.
Commitment
Advisory Council members meet quarterly, with occasional additional gatherings for strategy sessions, events, or training. Stipends are available for community members.
